How it works

From completed sale to available cash.

01

Complete and invoice

Deliver the goods or complete eligible services and issue a valid invoice.

02

Submit eligible invoices

The provider assesses the debtor, invoice and facility availability.

03

Access an advance

Draw an approved portion. The headline advance rate is not the same as cash available.

04

Customer pays

Collections reduce the funded balance; any reserve is released less applicable fees and adjustments.

What we assess

The terms that make a difference.

01

Invoice eligibility

Completed work, proof of delivery, invoice age, disputes, credits and any exclusions.

02

Customer quality

Payment history and creditworthiness, including reliance on a small number of customers.

03

Actual availability

Advance rates, reserves, concentration limits and overdue-invoice rules.

04

Collections and disclosure

Who contacts customers, where they pay and whether the facility is disclosed or confidential.

05

Recourse and security

Your obligations if a customer does not pay, guarantees and existing lender charges.

06

Full contract cost

Funding charges, service fees, minimums, term, notice period and exit costs.

Know what you’re comparing

Look beyond the headline advance rate.

Invoice discounting

Your business commonly keeps responsibility for credit control and collections. Confidential arrangements may be available, but disclosure and verification requirements depend on the provider and facility.

Factoring

The provider may support receivables administration and collections, with customers commonly notified of the arrangement. Confirm exactly who manages collections and the customer experience.

Recourse versus non-recourse

With recourse, unpaid invoices can leave your business responsible for repaying advances. Non-recourse protection, where offered, is limited by the contract and is not blanket cover for disputes, fraud or every unpaid debt.

Understand the real cash available

An approved percentage is applied to eligible invoices, not necessarily your entire ledger. Overdue or disputed invoices, customer concentration, reserves and fees can reduce the amount you can draw.

The BYRONS perspective

A cash-flow solution that fits your business.

As part of BYRONS’ accounting and advisory group, we look at the purpose, operating cycle and existing debt together. We can work with your accountant to understand the gap and present the supporting information.

We compare suitable bank and non-bank pathways, explain the facility obligations and coordinate the application. Availability depends on the business and provider’s assessment.

Common questions

Understand your options before you apply.

Which invoices can be funded?

Typically valid business-to-business invoices for goods already delivered or services completed, owed by acceptable customers. Deposits, progress claims, consumer invoices, related-party debts, old invoices or disputed accounts may be excluded or require specialist assessment.

Will my customers know?

It depends on the facility. Disclosed arrangements involve customer notification or payment instructions. Confidential facilities may be available, subject to requirements, and providers may still require debtor verification.

How much can I access?

The amount depends on eligible receivables, the agreed advance rate, approved limit, reserves and concentration rules. We assess your actual debtor ledger rather than quoting one percentage as a guarantee.

What if a customer pays late or never pays?

Overdue invoices may become ineligible and advances may need to be repaid or covered from other availability. Recourse, bad-debt protection and dispute exclusions depend on the contract. Funding an invoice does not remove the need for credit control.

Can I fund just one invoice?

Some providers offer selective facilities; others require a whole-ledger or ongoing arrangement. Availability depends on the invoice, customer, business and provider, so we compare the contractual commitment as well as the advance.

What documents should I prepare?

Usually an aged receivables report, sample invoices and proof of delivery or completed work, business financials, bank statements, customer payment terms and existing finance details. An aged payables report, dispute history and accounting-system access may also be requested securely.

Is this the same as an overdraft?

No. Invoice-finance availability is linked to eligible unpaid invoices and collections. An overdraft allows borrowing up to an approved limit. The better fit depends on the cash-flow gap, cost, security and administration involved.

Can it work with an existing business loan?

Potentially, but existing security interests and lender consent or priority arrangements may need to be resolved. We check these before assuming a new facility can sit alongside your current lender.
